The City

The children threw out their areas of interest and then each of them presented to the group WHY they thought their topics were best.  They learned how to present convincing arguments and listened to questions the others posed. The City was the topic that excited them the most.

And now the Exploration begins.

We believe that open minded exploration is the beginning of all learning.  Children will go out into the environment and experience the city, its spaces, its buildings, its light, its layout. They will come up with questions through being there, seeing, hearing, asking.  Then they did deeper.  Why is that building there?  Why are many cities built on rivers? How did this city get to look like this?

 

Taking trips around the city leads to conversations and shared experiences.  Interpersonal learning can be the most impressive learning of all!
